Mdina, nicknamed the silent city, is the oldest fortified city in Malta & Gozo. Mdina takes its name from Medina, a hamlet in the Arab period. It was later built as a promontary fortified by majestic bastions by the order of St John.

Walking through the cobbled narrow streets of this ancient Medina is a unique experience which takes you back in time. There are lots of magnificent medieval palaces and also an audio-visual centre where you can experience a media rich recreation of Mdina's history.
