Spa Travel Gozo
Gozo is a little island off the shores of Malta - it takes about twenty minutes by boat to reach the island.
Gozo is fast becoming a very popular holiday destination with those in the know. It is the perfect place to relax and retreat from the stresses and strains of everyday life and after a holiday in Gozo you will completely rested and revitalised.
Holidays in Gozo really do focus on enjoying life's simple pleasures. Start your day with a walk along the beach. Ramla beach is perhaps the most popular along with the beach at Marsalforn. Gozo beaches really are a beach lover's paradise. Sweeping swathes of soft golden sand melt into sparkling turquoise water. And the weather is just made for sunbathing - Gozo enjoys a fabulous climate with wonderful hot summers and pleasant warm winters.
Enjoy the spectacular scenery as you walk along the shore - the sandy beaches are backed by striking rugged cliffs.
After wishing the beach good morning, take a walk into Victoria, the island's main hub. Explore the little backstreets and then grab a morning coffee at one of the little pavement cafes and watch the world go by.
There are plenty of incredible sightseeing opportunities on the island, despite its tiny size. Visit the 17th century cathedral, take in the museums or discover the incredible ancient history that Gozo has to offer. Home to some of the oldest buildings in the world, the Ggantija temples are said to predate the Pyramids.
If you fancy getting active, Gozo offers everything from gentle strolls through the beautiful lush countryside to exhilarating water-sports opportunities. Gozo is particularly popular with divers and snorkelling enthusiasts who come to the island to explore its amazing under water caves and lagoons. There are two good diving centres on the island and snorkelling equipment can be readily hired from the water-sports centres.
For a real taste of paradise, take the ferry across to the tiny island of Comino. Trips run regularly throughout the day and the island is well worth a visit. With gorgeous uncrowded beaches and a fabulous blue lagoon, Comino is a fantastic little hideaway!
Finally, when evening falls, sample one of the lovely restaurants in Victoria or Pjazza Vittorja. The food in Gozo makes use of the abundant fresh produce grown on the island and also the excellent seafood freshly caught in the island's waters. Enjoy a few drinks in the pavement café bars under the warm, moonlit sky. The emphasis is on pure, simple relaxation.
If you visit Gozo in the summer, be sure to pay a visit to the amazing La Grotta - a fabulous disco that is held inside a natural cave.
All in all, holidays in Gozo will leave you utterly enchanted. The island is an intoxicating mix of natural beauty and fascinating ancient ruins where life is lived at a wonderful relaxed pace.
