The Tyrol is a beautiful alpine region covering part of western Austria and northern Italy.

Thousands of holidaymakers flock to Tyrol to experience the region's superb ski slopes.

Winter holidays in Tyrol are all about skiing, snowboarding and of course, the après ski.

The ski resorts in this area really are top class, and attract the rich and famous to their snowy slopes. Popular Tyrol ski resorts include Kitzbuhel - famous for its ski races which are held in January - Innsbruck and St Anton. The major ski resorts in the Tyrol region are famed not only for their superb ski slopes but also for their fabulous hotels. If you want to enjoy a spot of luxury while on your skiing holiday, then book one of the fabulous hotels in Innsbruck, St Anton or Kitzbuhel. Hotels that offer spa facilities are just the thing for easing away stresses and strains, or indeed weary muscles aching from skiing!

The main ski season in Tyrol starts in November and tends to end in March. But the beautiful Tyrol area makes just as fabulous a summer holiday destination. When the snow melts, you will be bowled over by the beauty of the Tyrol region. Pine clad hills, alpine meadows and crystal clear lakes just call out to be explored by foot or bike. Such fantastic landscape offers some great outdoor activities - why not indulge your adventurous side and try your hand at white water rafting or kayaking? Climbing is another popular activity, and there are certainly plenty of mountains to explore! If you fancy something a little bit more sedate, then why not take a sailing trip on one of the stunning mountain lakes, or simply stroll through the lush Tyrol meadows? It is also possible to swim in some of the lakes, and surfing opportunities are also on offer at some lakes.

Golfing enthusiasts will also enjoy a summer break in Tyrol. There are several top class golf courses in the area, and the scenery you can enjoy while taking in a game of golf is simply incredible.

There are some good sightseeing opportunities round and about - Kufstein is a charmingly pretty town in the east of the Tyrol region with some beautiful architecture and a magnificent castle.

Whatever time of year you choose to visit the stunning Tyrol area you are bound to fall in love with its charm and beauty. Add to that the selection of superb hotels on offer and you will find that Tyrol holidays offer the perfect opportunity to relax, indulge and well and truly get away from it all.
